A very rare nude oil painting made by a Canadian GI during the Second World War (16-OS1). This painting was painted by a soldier and left behind in Italy, where it was purchased in the mid-1990s. Signed but illegible. Dimensions are 20” x 27”. Please see photos for details.

Found in a Bridgewater, Nova Scotia estate, this pastel, chalk and charcoal portrait of a deceased soldier is unusually ornate (17-OS1). Signed by the artist "Hanlon" in the lower right corner. A very rare IDENTIFIED portrait of three ROBART brothers who went to fight in Europe in WW1 (18-2). Recently purchased out of a Dayspring, Lunenburg County estate and ALL ORIGINAL. Dimensions are 19” x 25” in original frame complete with bubble glass. Never disassembled or cleaned. We are not sure what the method was to make the portrait, but it is possibly an artist made presentation using photos as the model. WW1 portraits showing three IDENTIFIED Lunenburg County brothers are extremely rare. Please see photos for details.

A rare and unusual LARGE relief carving of an Iroquois warrior (20-OS1) in pine dating to the 1950s or 1960s. This is the first one of these we've seen and is fully identified as to origin (the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario) and artist (Clear Sky) on the back. The Six Nations of the Grand River unifies all Haudenosaunee peoples and is the only First Nation community that includes all six Haudenosaunee nations. Located along the banks of the Grand River, the Six Nations of the Grand River is the most populous First Nation in Canada. We've several of the False Face masks from Six Nations but never anything like this. Dimensions are 7” x 25”. Please see photos for details.

A miniature duck decoy carved by old-time gunner Enos Perry of Northeast Cove, Lunenburg County when he was 93 years old (21-17). Carved probably in the 1950s. Dimensions are 3.5” x 4” x 8”. Original paint. From the collection of the late Chris Wilcox. Please see photos for details.

(123-16) This 1943 Nova Scotia license plate is actually an unissued 1942 license plate that was re-stamped and repainted by the province government for use in 1943 due to metal shortages in WW2. (406-5) This particular Hatchel came from a residence in Riverport, NS dating back to the 1790’s. It was used to clean the flax of any shive remaining after swingling and to separate the fibres to give the fine fibre the characteristic of linen. Flax was usually processed on a course hatch first, and then on a finer one for the finest quality linen, a 3rd Hatchel with smaller more closely set teeth was used. the structure of this Hatchel is made from hardwood plank fitted with insert hardwood board set with a series of iron spikes. (Though it looks like a nail fetish torcher devise) The end of this hatchel has a well worn one inch hole for hanging. 3.5” spikes and board measures 7.5”x25” exceptional patina and colour Great decor for any country or Farm setting or oddities collection.

(410-5) This end table was made from shipwreck wood by Gilbert Nickerson of Shag Harbor, Nova Scotia. He was known as the “Old Chairmaker” and collected wood from ships to make into chairs, small furniture, carved maple leaves, and other interesting pieces. In one of his chairs, he is even reported to have used a piece from Titanic. Nickerson spent his whole life in Shag Harbor and died there on March 2, 1945. There is a lot of information written on the bottom of the stands in pencil giving the info about the various wrecks he used wood from in each of the stands. Unfortunately, time has made the writing difficult to read however some is still legible. Also see a newspaper clip write up on the artist.(Not included) 12”x12”x18”
