Rare opportunity National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA) historic letters dated from May 1963 to July 1975. There is a nice mix of 9 letters with one letter referencing and including a signed photo of Neil Armstrong (first man to walk on the moon, July 20, 1969). These letters date back to the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space programs and reference key astronauts during that period. Each letter is important individually and are an excellent historic collection as a group. Perfect to be framed. Letters are in very good condition. These letters include the following:
- May 22, 1963 – NASA heading, letter makes a reference to astronaut (Gordon) Cooper.
- August 31, 1964 – Jet Propulsion Laboratory heading, letter referencing the Ranger program.
- October 13, 1964 – NASA heading, letter makes a reference to astronaut Alan Shepard and Freedom 7, (Shepard was America’s first man in space in the Mercury project 1-man space program).
- February 1, 1966 – Jet Propulsion Laboratory heading, letter referencing the Gemini project (2-man space program).
- March 24, 1967 – NASA heading, letter referencing astronaut (Deke) Slayton about condolences on the deaths of the first Apollo astronauts (Gus) Grissom, (Edward) White and (Roger) Chaffee who died in a capsule fire in January 27, 1967 while testing. This was the low point in our space program in the 1960s.
- April 24, 1970 – NASA heading, letter referencing (Neil) Armstrong. This letter also referencing a memento of an autographed picture of Neil Armstrong. (Color photo is included in this lot).
- Sept 7, 1971 – NASA heading, hand written letter referencing photos sent.
- July 5, 1972 – Dept Of The Navy heading, letter referencing Apollo 11 press kit.
- July 9, 1975 – NASA heading, letter referencing Apollo Soyuz Test Project.
