Audrey Niffenegger (born June 13, 1963, in South Haven, Michigan) is an American writer and visual artist. She grew up in Evanston, Illinois, and pursued her passion for art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, followed by an MFA from Northwestern University. Niffenegger is renowned for her debut novel, "The Time Traveler's Wife" (2003), which became a national bestseller and was later adapted into a film. Beyond her literary achievements, she is a dedicated visual artist, creating prints, paintings, and artist's books. Niffenegger serves as a professor in the Department of Creative Writing at Columbia College Chicago, where she co-founded the Center for the Book and Paper Arts. Her works have been exhibited internationally, reflecting her multifaceted talent in both visual and literary arts.
