Antique circa 1880's Florentine Embossed Leather, Gold,lacquered, brown silk moire lined, folder or portfolio. The surface craquelure is consistent with it's age and adds to the richness of this rare example of a vanishing craft.

Hardwood try made in Brazil with butterfly wings and bird feathers. Marquetry pattern fully intact and the craftsmanship is superb. This is in excellent condition and was made in the 1920's. The more recently made are not as intricate as this one.

Vintage camel bag circa 1920's, north Africa, tightly woven with a tall pile, camel and goat hair. Sturdy weaving as it was used in a utilitarian way for carrying goods while on camelback. Strap or cord is missing.

New Mexican traditional punched tin and colcha, wall mounted candle holder. Emilio and Senaida Romero, Santa Fe, NM 1986. Signed by the artists. Senaida Romero was born 1909, in Ojo de Vaca, New Mexico, and Emilio Romero in 1910 in Santa Fe.. Senaida and Emilio worked together as a team since they married in 1930. Their traditional tinwork received numerous cultural and arts awards, and they were recognized by The National Endownment For The Arts, the Governor Of New Mexico, The National Heritage Foundation as well as other awards from art exhibitions and museums.

Howard Cook (1901-1980) was an American Artist, moved to Taos and became well known and respected for his prints and murals. His work is in American museum collections throughout the country.

Langley was the art director for the Fairbanks Studio on such films as "Three Musketeers," and "Mark of Zorro." Langley was painting in Japan when World War II began and was a prisoner until 1943. Edward M. Langley was born in1870 and became an art director and production designer, known for When the Clouds Roll by (1919), The Black Pirate (1926) and The Nut (1921). Edward died in 1949 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Rio Grande Wool Rug, Tierra Aramillo, New Mexico, woven by Theresa Archuleta, 1988. Fiber spun from Navajo-Churro Sheep, the wool is hand dyed from vegetal dyes and woven on a floor loom. Weavers, spinners, herbalists and sheep ranchers formed a cooperative to continue in traditional crafts and skills. Their efforts have been successful and thriving to this day producing local wools, products and superb original weavings. This rug is in excellent condition.

Charla Khanna serigraph 21 ¼”W x 23 ¾”H circa 1971. Her graphics techniques were influenced by one of her famous teachers the 'rebel nun' Corita Kent. Although Charla is an accomplished graphic artist she is best known for her signature dolls. This print was purchased from Khanna at the invitational Ann Arbor Arts Fair in the 1970s.

Imhoff’s Season Greetings lithograph Magpies, 16X20, archival rag mat, framed, circa 1932. The folds on this artists’ print were necessary to fit the print into the mailing envelope. Original art prints, the Christmas greeting cards were a tradition each year among the Taos artists. The Imhoffs prolific Christmas greetings were coveted.

Colcha stitchery, Spanish colonial image of stag, stretched, hand spun and hand dyed wool, linen mat, framed. Measures 23"x28.5" Colcha is a stitch that the Spanish brought to the western world. Also known as Romanian Couching in Europe. It gained favor due to the way the stitch stays exposed on the surface with just a small stitch to secure it on the backing material. The Early Hispanic New Mexicans had very little in the way of materials to work with. When the traders and priests came with blankets they were used until they were frayed and fell apart. The women would pull them apart for the wool threads and reuse them. The women incorporated animal and floral design into the remade fabrics and used the newly learned colcha stitch as frugality regarding materials was necessary.

Handcrafted Artisan-Made Rocking Chair This incredible rocker is not a ride for the faint of heart! Its rockers are curved. It is made from bent wood, sturdy and in excellent condition. It is stable, comfortable and fun.

Colonial style bench, circa 1880s from Northern New Mexico near the village of Cebolla. Purchased on site in early 1960s by a collector and gallery owner. Back spindles swivel in place to adjust to the seated person's back. Very innovative design by an amazingly creative craftsman. Decorative cross stretchers also swivel. There is one base cross stretch in the back that is broken and a supportive repair was made that easily can be removed. The stiles on each side are made from one piece of wood, not pieced. They are cut on an angle to provide great seating comfort along with the swiveling spindles adapting to one's back. There is wear on the arms where someone sharpened tools or just cut with their knife. Someone has hammered nails into some of the mortise and tenon sites. This is in remarkable condition and a most unique piece. It has been in private residences and this is the first time it has been shown in 60 years. There has been one other chair found that is the most similar to this bench and it is in New Mexico Palace Of The Governors. Photo archive 025647. Title: Spanish Colonial priest chair. The photo collection is by New Mexico History Museum. The priest’s chair also is cut on an angle rather than pieced and has similar but not the same. The diamond design back pieces are stationary. The other photo of a chair that has an angled back structure is an 18th century side chair in the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas, Madrid. The two chairs are pictured in the book Popular Arts of Spanish New Mexico by E. Boyd pgs 252, 253, and benches on page 255. “ Such chairs resembled those used in church sanctuaries and, although rudely mortised of unadorned pine, repeated the design and construction of Romanesque thrones of eight or nine centuries before. The same was true of decorative benches with back rail and arms, which were originally made for use in the church sanctuary and by selected dignitaries attending Mass, or for seating ladies at dances in the sala. Since each bench was made by or for a family, they were of all sizes and patterns. Variety in rails, splats, and aprons was often handsome with a feeling for proportion and restraint in ornament which was typical of the best Spanish New Mexican woodworking.”

Lela Gutierrez (1895-1966) Santa Clara Pueblo pottery, black on black 4" pot signed on the bottom prior to firing. She was married to Van Gutierrez and mother of Luther Gutierrez, who continued her family’s pottery tradition. Her pottery is highly regarded for its beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural significance and represents the traditional Santa Clara Pueblo style, passed down through generations of potters. Today, her pieces are highly valued for their historical importance and aesthetic appeal.

The painted ex-voto tradition was introduced by Spanish settlers in 16th century Mexico. This piece is 7.25" x 4.5"

This is a 1899 First Annual Rough Riders Reunion Invitation. Addressed to Miss Margaret Martin of Shippensburg, Cumberland County, PA. *Invitation to attend First Annual Reunion Roosevelt’s Rough Riders Las Vegas, New Mexico, June 24th, 25th & 26th, 1899 Stamped top and bottom in red ink: J.P.S Mennet. En verso: Hand addressed with postage stamp, dated June 10th[?] 1899 Dimensions: 8.25"x4.25" Although excellent Rough Rider memorabilia exists, we have never been able to locate another one of these invitations. The Rough Riders, ( voluntary cavalry of a fit but motley crew), defeated the Mexican army and saved the border territories for the U.S. in the Spanish American War under the leadership of Theodore Roosevelt. They served in Texas, New Mexico and Cuba. The Battle of San Juan Hill was considered the site of their greatest victory.

Percy Sandy Tsisete, aka Kai’Sa,(Red Moon) 1918-1974 Zuni artist Both gouache paintings are hand signed by the artist on the reverse side. Percy was a known Zuni watercolor artist when he became crippled from an auto accident at the age of 41. He kept painting throughout the rest of his life as he was dedicated to preserving, recording and “honoring his great race.” However, his depictions of religious ceremonies and objects were too accurate and revealed too much according to some of the elders. When he married he moved to the Taos Pueblo where his wife was from. His painting style and imagery became iconic to Indian paintings. KaiSa's art is in numerous museums,galleries and collections some of which are: Heard Museum, AZ The Gilcrease Museum, OK Museum of New Mexico Indian Arts and Crafts Board, Washington, DC United Pueblo Agency in New Mexico Philbrook Art Center, OK

Helen 1909-1989, started the scrapbook to memorialize the graphics process of her calendars. She was the daughter of the famed Taos artists Ernest and Mary Greene Blumenschein. Although she wanted to carry on the family legacy as a painter, she found interest primarily in graphics. Her first calendar appears in 1937. She produced an annual (?), calendar showcasing the local artists including herself. The assorted drawings, paintings, notes, prints in various stages, and actual finished calendars are the entire unedited contents of the scrapbook. Artists represented are: E. J. Bistram, Ila MacAffee, Kaisa (pueblo artist), Kenneth Adams, Ernest Blumenschein, Mary Blumenschein, Loren Moseley, Gene Kloss, Ward Lockwood, O. E Berninghaus. Calendars 1937,1942,1943, 1948, 1965
