45 Long colt caliber. This is the 3rd generation SAA manufactured in 1987 and grades 95% to 98% with only slight bluing wear to the crown of the barrel and cylinder edges. The 3rd generation SAA's with SA prefixes were manufactured between 1978 and 1993 with no annual numbers, so the manufacture date is an estimate. This gun is the most popular barrel length and caliber and comes with a high quality Bianchi model 1880 "Cheyenne" holster and belt rig custom fit for John Ascuaga. .22L & .22LR Caliber. Grading at 50%, this is a nice vintage Savage likely manufactured just after the end of WWII. The model 3 and its numerous variants were made between 1930 and 1947 although some references list manufacturing as late as 1952. As these were made with no serial number, determining a exact date is impossible.
