Remarkable and almost undoubtedly the greatest copy you’ll find anywhere, Brian Zahn Yarrowstalks underground art newspaper Volume 0 issue 1 the very brilliant beginning first printing first edition from 1967, including the very first ever appearance of Robert Crumb’s Mr.Natural, and also Timothy Leary interview and among the earliest ever published Crumb works. You’ll possibly find copies that have all been folded as was typical, creased with wear, chipping and tears, but none as clean and sharp as this one. From East Village Other Incorporated very very hard-to-find via Spain Rodriguez from 1967, the very first underground tabloid adult comic newspaper Zodiac Mindwarp, including staggering psychedelic artwork and imagery. Other copies sold typically shown with heavy wear and folded in half as was common, this particular copy never folded, fresh off presses stored cleanly and spectacularly, a stunning example above all others. From off the streets of Cleveland, easily one of the greatest slices of American in comic form, two absolute talents together (I strongly recommend the film adaptation with Paul Giamatti also) — Harvey Pekar and Robert Crumb American Splendor numbers 4 and 5 from 1979, both magazine sized copies first printings and VF as is the rest of the collection.

Pretty phenomenal, Pacific Comics and Schanes publishing Strange Marshall Rogers art portfolio with six stunning art plates, the first plate signed and numbered by the artist to bottom edge (a low 281 out of 1200), and numbered on frontispiece, plus an artist’s profile page to back of portfolio sleeve. Titled "Slightly Sinful," framed charcoal and pastel on canson with glass and wood frame, 2008 via Erik Drudwyn with an awesome accompanying art book that is autographed by Eric with gold marker to bottom of cover, and a certificate of authenticity also signed and dated by the artist. Astonishing.

Decorated with a detailed Robert Crumb cover but times two as its doubled, Print Mint Arcade: The Comics Revue number 1 from spring of 1975, "uplifting entertainment" and action packed with laughs and zabs. Both copies very nice, one copy a VF/NM and the other a Fine- if not better.

Simply stunning and brilliant. An original masterpiece by artist Erik Drudwyn, "Nights In White Satin" 27” x 18” oil on canvas from 2006 with descriptor page, plus an accompanying autographed with gold marker SQP Inc The Art Of Erik Drudwyn from 2003 glossy retrospective.

Titled "A Little Bit Country" from August of 2008 charcoal on canson measuring approx 15 x 18.5 hand signed with two accompanying certificates, Erik Drudwyn excellence. Of note: every Drudwyn original art piece includes a copy of his Art Of Erik Drudwyn 2003 SQP Magazine.

And here we are. Remarkable. Phenomenal. And all of the above. A masterpiece as one modern art master collaborated with another legend, KAWS x Hajime Sorayama No Future Companion Black Chrome metalized sculpture, limited to only 500 ever produced in 2008, full articulation, engraved on base, numbered 173 of 500, Sculpture: 12.5 x 7.8 x 7.8 in / 31.8 x 19.7 x 19.7 cm, Box: 16.5 x 11.8 x 11.3 in / 41.9 x 29.8 x 28.6 cm, rare, scarce, looks hardly ever taken out of its styrofoam casing until earlier, with bagged cloth face mask and box complete. Only one slight chip to left center on cover of box, everywhere else like-new, superb, spectacular.

Extremely rare and then some, the actual Disney animators use these as a template, a reference guide for their animation and art, two Walt Disney Character lithographs including the entire roster of lovable cartoon entities measuring 22 x 25. Some fold creasing from decades of storage, minor creasing to a corner or two.

An extraordinary cover that is indicative of everything that made Crumb so popular and different from the norm, but with a double dose here, amazing and astounding— Promethean Enterprises number 3 from 1971 both first editions, both featuring Crumb, Roy Krenkel, Spain Rodriguez, Richard Corben and other greats work, both VF/NM as is practically every item from this cherished collection, beautiful copies.

Truly tremendous. The art underground mastermind behind Guns N’ Roses appetite for destruction, and with this softcover tome the infamous artist's paintings get the lush treatment they deserve in this career-spanning collection. Williams' transcendent work integrates his formative underground influences with a mastery of fine art techniques. A career-spanning collection of the infamous lowbrow master, Fantagraphics Robert Williams Malicious Resplendence softcover from November of 1999, over 300 pages. Three tiny blemishes: a faint bit of nubbing to bottom right corner, bottom back of spine, and a line of marker marking to center bottom of book.

Not quite the Cryptkeeper but equally excellent and compelling, presented with a radical Rick Griffin cover "Raves from The Caves of Waves," Foamy Funny Tales From The Tube first printing first edition from February of 1972, featuring Clay Wilson, Crumb, Robert Williams and other outstanding greats, extremely rare, listed a VG+/Fine copy but honestly this is a Fine+ at worst, one faint ding to bottom left on cover, beautiful colors and cover, concise inners, sharp backing.

Stemming from the late 60’s, you love to see the great Basil Wolverton and Crumb together — five (5) total ashcan sized mini comics consisting of Gjdrkzlxcbwq Comics first printing from 1973, Common Types Of Barflyze first printing from 1974, and Snatch Comics numbers 1, 2 and 3 they are believed second, first and fourth printings. All superb and VF.

Glorious and gorgeous, Vulcan Gas Company’s Gas Comics number 2 from 1970 first printing, extremely scarce, vivid imagery, impeccable condition, easy VF/NM.

Quite frankly near impossible to find in this pristine condition, San Francisco Bay Area Yellow Dog underground tabloid, taken fresh off the presses and stored impeccably, all twelve tremendous issues to complete the series 1968 to 1969, Crumb, Moscoso, Griffin and other greats work included. This is, as with all items in this auction, a case of rare circumstances wherein the items were taken fresh off printing, stored cleanly and pristine for decades and hardly ever touched. Gems.

Absolutely eye catching, attention grabbing, and unmistakable as Crumb’s work has ever been here with four absolutely phenomenal examples (in particular in my humble opinion the SFCB) — Print Mint’s Uneeda Comix 1 from 1970, Kitchen Sink’s XYZ Comics 1 from 1972, San Francisco Comic Book number 3 from August of 1971, and the underground art guide Inside Comics number 1 from Spring of 1974 (and how often do you see Neal Adams and Robert Crumb together in one item, not often whatsoever). All issues first printings and VF/NM except a brief bit of foxing to perimeter on backing of Inside Comics.

Three tremendous tomes to tribute three different yet equally exquisite industry talents and titans, Kitchen Sink’s Will Eisner The Spirit Color Album Volume 2 hardcover from 1982, Fantagraphics The Arcane Eye Of Burne Hogarth Sketchbook first edition from August of 1992, and Mother Of Pearl The Mutants By Bernie Wrightson 1980. All items clean and like-new except Wrightson has a brief bit of wear to the bottom edge of book.

I remember the very first time I saw this cover; Robert Crumb’s vision of the humdrum of American life, Print Mint’s Despair One-Shot from November of 1969. Both copies NM/M, beautiful colors and covers.

All first printings all in fantastic condition and Very Fine, almost complete 8 issue run for Kitchen Sink Comix Bizarre Sex numbers 1-9 but missing issue 8, from 1972, including the first Omaha The Cat Dancer, not an often seen series, the middle two issues switched to magazine sized format with wondrous Richard Corben cover artwork, then included is also Jiz Comics Crumb ashcan sized mini comix from 1969, believed to be a first printing. Terrific edges and corners, vivid covers.

Frank Frazetta, Al Williamson, Crumb, all together in this treasure, I’ve never personally held or even seen this issue in person until now — Promethean Enterprises number 1 from May of 1969, over 30 pages in total and 8 1/2 by almost 11. A spectacular and practically spotless copy, one lone fain ding to the back bottom corner.

Tamara Bane Gallery Walter Girotto Neo-Classicism from 1989, two copies of this softcover book with a transparent intro page and delightful inner artwork spanning many subgenres, then Eclipse Books’ Swordsmen And Saurians From The Mesozoic To The Barsoom by Roy G. Krenkel with intro by William Stout 1989. One of the copies of Girotto has perimeter creasing and nubbing to bottom right corner while the other remains nicer with mostly sharp edges.

Three vivid and visually stunning takes on some greats — Paper Tiger The Frank Collection A Showcase Of The World’s Finest Fantastic Art by Jane and Howard Frank 1989 (Virgil Finlay, Vallejo, etc), Paper Tiger Ultraterranium The Paintings Of Bruce Pennington also from 1989, finally Cross Plains Comics REH A Short Biography Of Robert E.Howard 1999 with intro by Roy Thomas, absolutely divine intro page artwork by Marie and John Severin. Jabs, gasps, laughs, zabs and cracks with this grab, a nine issue delight of Apex Novelties/Print Mint/Last Gasp Zap Comix numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11 with the wondrous Robert Williams cover, Crumb of course too, most first printings except issue 1 is a third printing, issue 2 is a second printing and issue 3 a 1st or 2nd p, copies Fine+ most VF.

Spectacular and equally scarce, Promethean Enterprises number 2 from May of 1970, 52 pages, Crumb, Inwood, Kenneth Smith, Rick Griffin cover and many other underground greats. Interview excerpts from Al Williamson, Alex Toth and other legends. A fabulous copy, only the perimeter edges have a slight color fade and one ink dot to top left corner on Barr back cover.

Classic Crumb stuff indeed, issues 1 and 2 for Rip Off Press’ Big Ass Comics from 1969. Issue 1 a Fine+ or VF- with a faint spine crease or two and one crease dent to back cover, and issue 2 a G+ or slightly better, a chip to bottom left corner, a discoloration mark to center bottom and a moment or two of slight wear, and two chips near spine on backing.

A bunch of danger and devious moments throughout this grab, six issues in total all VF/NM copies, consisting of San Francisco Comic Books Thrilling Murder Comics number 1 from 1971, three issues of Rip Off Press’ Subvert Comics 1-3 featuring Spain Rodriguez imagery and the Origin of Trashman Agent of the 6th International, finally Cartoonists Co-op Press’ Nard N’ Pat 1 and 2 complete from Jayzey Lynch.

Extremely rare and limited to a very low 350 copies ever produced, this particular copy numbered 223, Vaughn Bode 1976 The Portfolio Nodthern Comfort Communications with embossed cover on portfolio envelope. Very sharp and clean, concise, only a few small wear lines and tears to left edge. Encased in leather portfolio sleeve.

A heavy influence on the art style of the great Ralph Bakshi, Vaughn Bode left a heavy and huge presence on the underground comics and cartoon art world with his very brief time on earth, luckily he left many great examples of his excellence beforehand such as these two — a very rare The Bode Bulletin number 1 fan news letter, a self published periodical to fans, and Gosh Wow number 2 from 1968 featuring a Bode cover and inner art plus fellow comic legends Wallace Wood and Steve Ditko inner art. The bulletin is VF and like-new, and the Gosh Wow is clean and sharp, only a slight bit of browning to right and top edge on cover.

Northern Comfort Communications Deadbone by Vaughn Bode The First Testament Of Cheech Wizard, The Cartoon Messiah hardcover from 1975 first printing first edition, this rare hardcover includes a plastic sleeve protecting the dust jacket and book’s overall integrity. It remains very clean and neat, only some very minimal browning to a few edges of dust jacket.

Fulhorne Productions White Whore Funnies Numbers 1 and 2 from November of 1975 and April of 1978, both first printings, both VF.

Excellent.
