Description
Welcome to the Central Coast Coin Exxchange (CCCX) Auction, located in San Luis Obispo, CA! All of our auctions are online and hosted by HiBid. We specialize in buying and selling a diverse range of collectible coins and currency, both U.S. and foreign, across all denominations. Our offerings include mint-issued sets, commemoratives, and various precious metals such as bars, rounds, and bullion. We also purchase and sell sterling silver and gold jewelry ranging from 12k to 24k. Our owner, Jules Rogoff, has been an avid numismatist since childhood and opened his first coin shop in 1976. He has built a reputation for honesty and integrity, engaging with everyone from novice collectors to seasoned investors. We’d love to have you participate in our auction. Please read the details below if this is your first time bidding with us. REGISTRATION Register for an account if you don’t already have one. Go to the Login/New Bidder link at the top of the page. You will need to validate your credit card during this process. A temporary hold of $1 will be placed on your account to ensure the credit card is valid. Please read our Terms and Conditions so you understand the ins and outs of our auction. Once you place a bid, you’re agreeing to our Terms and Conditions so please be aware of these in advance. BIDDING Now that you’re registered, you are ready to bid once the auction has started. Please keep in mind that a bid is a binding agreement to purchase the item (see our Terms and Conditions for more details). Each auction will start at a different price, as we do not set reserve prices. By having a clear starting price instead of a reserve price, we ensure greater transparency for all bidders. With a clear starting price, everyone knows the minimum threshold for bidding, eliminating any uncertainty about whether a bid will meet a hidden reserve. This approach encourages competitive bidding and provides a fair opportunity for all participants. We aim to set our starting bids well below retail value, offering you the opportunity to score great deals. If you are the highest bidder when the auction closes, you win the item—regardless of the starting price. Be sure to keep an eye on the bids to secure your winning position! We recommend utilizing the Max Bid Feature if you cannot watch the auction close, allowing the system to bid on your behalf. Additionally, we suggest "watching" items by clicking the watch button above the bid price. This bookmarks all the items you're interested in for easy access. SOFT CLOSE Each lot within the auction is set to end at a specific time; however, all online auctions conducted by Central Coast Coin Exxchange utilize a "Soft Close" feature. This is also known as “popcorn” or “dynamic” bidding. During the soft closing period, if an item receives a bid in the last two minutes before its scheduled closing time, bidding will remain open. Each time a bid is placed within this two-minute window, the auction closing time will be extended by an additional two minutes, allowing more time for bidders to participate. PAYMENT Once the auction ends, your credit card on file will be charged within 24 hours. If you'd prefer to pay with a different card or via wire transfer, please contact us before the auction concludes. Pre-approval is required for these alternative payment methods, which will also prevent us from automatically charging your card after the auction closes. SHIPPING AND HANDLING All items are set for shipping by default. Shipping and handling costs are the responsibility of the Buyer and will be calculated based on the weight, size, and destination of the items purchased. Central Coast Coin Exxchange utilizes USPS, UPS, and FedEx as shipping carriers to ensure your items are delivered safely and promptly. By participating in our auctions, you agree to the terms outlined in this Shipping and Handling policy. LOCAL PICK-UP & CASH PAYMENT If you want to pick up the items locally and/or pay cash in person, you need to get approval from us in advance. In-person cash payments receive a 2.5% discount. Please review the TERMS AND CONDITIONS for full details, including applicable taxes (only in California) and fees associated with this auction. All sales are final. No refunds. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: -Buyers located in California will have their local sales tax included with the shipping and handling charges, billed separately from final auction price. -All pictures are of the actual item you will receive. -We aim to set our starting bids well below retail value, offering you the opportunity to score great deals. -Please carefully review the pictures for condition. -If an item is pictured with a box, the box will be included in the sale. -Any objects used as a stand or for scale or reference, such as a tape measure or a Washington quarter, are not included in the sale unless specifically noted. -We do our best to list any abnormalities or issues with the items. -Grades or quality assessments on non-professionally graded coins are subjective and based on our opinion. Please review the photos for details, as we cannot be held liable for any differences in grading opinions. Feel free to contact us with any questions. Happy bidding! - The CCCX Team

Bidding in our auctions constitutes a binding contract, meaning that by placing a bid, you commit to completing the transaction in accordance with these terms. This binding agreement applies to all participants, regardless of their state of residence. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California. Payment may ONLY be made in the form of accepted credit cards or cash if local pick-up. AUCTION REGISTRATION All bidders must register with HiBid to participate in our auctions. The bidder must submit current, complete, and accurate information for approval to bid. By registering, you confirm that you are of legal age (18 years or older) to enter into binding contracts. Additionally, all bidders must have a credit card preapproved before bidding. Central Coast Coin Exxchange respects your privacy; we do not sell or rent your personal information. We may use your email address to notify you about upcoming online and live auctions. If you do not wish to receive these notifications, please contact our office to request removal from our email mailing list. As a bidder, you are responsible for the security of your bidding number, username, and password, as well as any bids placed under your assigned number or ID. If you believe your number or password has been compromised, you must notify us immediately. Central Coast Coin Exxchange reserves the right, at our sole discretion and for any reason, to terminate registration, deny any person permission or access to bid, reject any and all bids, and suspend or ban bidders from future auctions. Please note that bidder registration is non-transferable and non-assignable. BUYER'S PREMIUM A Buyer’s Premium of 12% will be added to the final hammer price of each lot purchased in our auction. This fee is calculated based on the total amount of the winning bid, and it is mandatory for all successful bidders. For example, if your winning bid is $50.00, the total amount charged at checkout for this lot will be $56.00 ($50.00 x 12% = $56.00), plus any applicable sales tax. The Buyer’s Premium is essential for covering the operational costs associated with running the auction and providing services to our bidders. By participating in our auctions, you acknowledge and agree to this premium and understand that it will be included in your final invoice. Please keep in mind that the Buyer’s Premium is non-negotiable and will be applied uniformly to all bidders. Ensure that you factor this additional cost into your bidding strategy to avoid any surprises at the conclusion of the auction. SALES TAX: As required by California state law, Central Coast Coin Exxchange will ONLY collect sales tax on items purchased by California residents, based on the applicable local sales tax rate for their city or county, as we are shipping from California. Buyers located outside of California are responsible for understanding and complying with any sales tax obligations in their respective jurisdictions. By participating in our auctions, buyers acknowledge their responsibility to adhere to these tax obligations in their respective jurisdictions. **California Seller’s Permit Holders: READ THIS IF YOU ARE CLAIMING ANY SALES TAX EXEMPTION IN CALIFORNIA When registering, please use the "Notes to Auctioneer" field to indicate your intent to claim a tax exemption and provide your State Tax ID Number. We will not issue tax refunds for claims that are not noted. If you cannot find this section, please email us your information at cccoinexxchange@gmail.com. SHIPPING AND HANDLING POLICY: Shipping and handling costs are the responsibility of the Buyer and will be calculated based on the weight, size, and destination of the items purchased. Shipping Timeframe: Central Coast Coin Exxchange is committed to ensuring a timely shipping process for our valued customers. All items will be shipped from our facility within 5 business days following the conclusion of the auction. While we strive to process and dispatch most items sooner (1 to 3 days), please allow for up to 5 business days for handling and shipping. Shipping Companies: All items shipped within the United States will be sent via FedEx Ground, UPS Ground, or USPS Ground Advantage. The service will be chosen by Central Coast Coin Exxchange based on the best rates available. Local Pickup: Local pickup is permitted with prior approval from Central Coast Coin Exxchange. Please email us at cccoinexxchange@gmail.com to request local pickup approval and schedule your pickup time. Any item(s) not picked up or remaining after the 7-day period are considered forfeit, and ownership will revert back to the seller. No refunds will be given. International Shipping: We do offer international shipping that includes additional customs duties, taxes, insurance, and fees. These rates will vary depending on the destination country. Buyers are responsible for these additional charges. We will use FedEx, UPS, or USPS to ship these items. Damaged or Lost Items: While we take great care in packaging and shipping your items, Central Coast Coin Exxchange is not liable for any damages or losses that occur during shipping. If you receive a damaged item, please report it to us immediately, and we will assist you in filing a claim with the shipping carrier. BIDDING PROCESS Each auction will have multiple lots. Each lot will be assigned a unique number for identification. Each lot may consist of one or multiple items, and the auction start price will vary accordingly. Every auction will have a specified duration, detailing when the bidding will begin and end. Each lot will feature a title and multiple images to provide bidders with a comprehensive view of the items. In some cases, there may be multiple pictures of the same item to highlight its details. Bidders should pay close attention to the title and description of each lot to understand how many items are included. If the title or description does not indicate that there are multiple items or specify a quantity, then the lot is for the single item described in the title. Each auction may start at a different price, as we do not set reserve prices. By having a higher starting price instead of a reserve price, we ensure greater transparency for all bidders. With a clear starting price, everyone knows the minimum threshold for bidding, eliminating any uncertainty about whether a bid will meet a hidden reserve. This approach encourages competitive bidding and provides a fair opportunity for all participants. If you are the highest bidder when the auction closes, you win the item—regardless of the starting price. Be sure to keep an eye on the bids to secure your winning position! Some auctions may provide high and low estimates for items. These estimates are offered solely for the convenience of the buyer, and Central Coast Coin Exxchange makes no warranties or guarantees regarding their accuracy or reliability. The winning bidder agrees to pay the Hammer Price, Buyer’s Premium, applicable Sales Tax (only for CA residents), and Shipping and Handling fees, including Insurance. BID CANCELLATION POLICY There are no provisions for placing bids to "mark the lot" or to "test the system." Any requests to cancel bids based on these reasons, or due to a bidder's failure to read a listing, lack of familiarity with the bidding platform, inadequate due diligence, or failure to maintain control over their bidding terminal, will be denied. Such requests to cancel bids are considered null and void and do not exempt the bidder from their legal and contractual obligation to complete the transaction. CONDITION OF ITEMS All items are sold as-is, where-is, without any warranties, expressed or implied. Descriptions are provided for informational purposes and are believed to be accurate; however, bidders are strongly encouraged to review item details and photographs prior to bidding. All lots are sold AS-IS, and all sales are final. Please note that no credit card chargebacks will be accepted—no exceptions. Central Coast Coin Exxchange guarantees that all coins are genuine. By genuine, we mean that each coin is the stated denomination, made from the correct metal, and produced by the authorized mint in the year indicated. It is important to note that genuineness does not encompass the coin's grade. Coin grading is inherently subjective and is based on the opinion of the cataloguer or a third-party grading service. If a buyer questions the authenticity of a coin after receipt, they have 10 business days from the date of delivery to return the coin to us. The coin must be in its original holder or packaging, which must remain unopened. We will verify if the returned coin is indeed the one sold. At our discretion, we will send the coin in question to PCGS or NGC for authentication. Please be aware that the buyer is responsible for all costs associated with grading and shipping if the coin is determined to be genuine by PCGS or NGC. However, if the coin is deemed not genuine, we will refund the purchase price, along with the associated shipping and grading costs. As a bidder, it is your responsibility to assess the condition and value of each coin or lot. While we will do our best to list any obvious defects or issues with the item, we do not provide guarantees on coin grades for any of our lots. We encourage you to carefully examine the photos and videos provided during the auction and to ask any questions before placing your bids. Central Coast Coin Exxchange may attempt to describe coins in advertising, on the internet, and during the auction. Any descriptions referring to coin grade or condition reflect the subjective opinion of Central Coast Coin Exxchange. We make no express or implied warranties based on these subjective assessments of the coins being sold. BID NOTIFICATION If you have been outbid you will be notified by email but it is best to check back often, especially in the final moments of an auction. If a bid is upset within two minutes of the end of an auction the end time will automatically extend an additional two minutes. To quickly review your bids and see if you have won you can utilize the 'My Bids' feature. Items that have been outbid will be clearly identified. SOFT CLOSING Each lot within the auction is set to end at a specific time; however, all online auctions conducted by Central Coast Coin Exxchange utilize a "Soft Close" feature. For example, if an item is scheduled to close at 5:00 PM and a bid is placed between 4:58 PM and 5:00 AM, the closing time will extend to 5:02 PM. If another bid is placed during the next closing interval, the time will further extend to 5:04 PM, and so on. Once two minutes pass without any bids, the auction for that item will close, and the lot will be marked as "COMPLETED." Please remember to click the "Refresh" button on your web browser frequently before the item closes and during any extension periods, as your screen may not refresh automatically. You may miss subsequent bids if you do not refresh manually. WINNING LOT(s) NOTIFICATION You will receive an email notification once the auction has concluded and the winners have been verified. If you do not receive this email, it means you have not won. Please check your spam or junk email folders if you believe you should have received a notification but haven’t. If you think there has been an error, please contact us immediately. PAYMENT TERMS Payment for all purchases is due immediately at the conclusion of the auction. Central Coast Coin Exxchange will charge the hammer price, buyer's premium, applicable sales tax, and any other fees to the credit card submitted at the time of registration, unless alternative arrangements have been made with Central Coast Coin Exxchange prior to the end of the auction. If you wish to pay using another method, such as a wire transfer, please request approval in advance. Please note, Shipping and Handling will be charged as a second credit card transaction. After the auction concludes, you will receive an invoice confirming the items on which you were the successful bidder, along with the final amount charged. If the charges are declined by the credit card processor, a non-sufficient funds (NSF) charge of $25.00 will be assessed to the buyer. The buyer will be notified of the NSF transaction via email and will have 48 hours to contact Central Coast Coin Exxchange with an alternative payment method. Cash is accepted only in person and must be approved in advance by contacting us at cccoinexxchange@gmail.com. Cash transactions will receive a 2.5% discount. If we are not informed in advance of your intention to pay in cash, your credit card will be processed at the conclusion of the auction. Please note that once this credit card process is complete, it cannot be reversed. Consequences of Non-Compliance: The winning Bidder's failure to complete the purchase in accordance with the terms provided herein and in the listing may result in any combination of the following consequences: elimination of all future bidding privileges on the hosting site and legal and/or collection action. RETURNS AND REFUNDS All sales are final. Placing a bid constitutes a legally binding obligation, and there are no returns or exchanges. All lots are sold as-is. The bidder is solely responsible for conducting due diligence to verify the condition and description of a lot prior to placing any bid. Returns will only be accepted in cases where there has been a significant misrepresentation of the item or if the wrong item was received. Returns will only be accepted with prior written authorization from Central Coast Coin Exxchange, which retains sole discretion to approve or deny any return request. To request a return, you must submit a written request within three business days of receiving the lot, fully explaining the basis for the return. Please send requests to cccoinexxchange@gmail.com. Under no circumstances will any amounts other than the winning bid amount and exact associated fees be refunded. Any accepted returns must be received in the exact same condition as when originally shipped; otherwise, they will be returned to the buyer at their expense. The buyer will pay for the return shipping. The refund will not be processed until we can inspect the returned items. Unauthorized returns will be refused and returned to the sender. By participating in this auction, you agree that Central Coast Coin Exxchange and its affiliates shall not be liable for any errors in descriptions, nor for any failure to execute a bid on behalf of any participant for any reason. DISPUTE RESOLUTION In the event of any dispute arising between the Buyer and Central Coast Coin Exxchange that cannot be resolved amicably, both parties agree to the following dispute resolution procedures: Any allegations of default under this agreement shall be submitted to binding arbitration in the State of California. Central Coast Coin Exxchange will select a neutral arbitrator. The arbitration process shall commence when either party requests arbitration by serving a written notice to the other party via certified mail. Failure to participate in the arbitration process will be considered a default. Each party will have the opportunity to present their case to the arbitrator, with a maximum time limit of one hour for each party. Both parties acknowledge and agree that they are waiving their rights to have the dispute resolved in a court of law. The arbitrator shall have full jurisdiction over the dispute and may issue an award to the prevailing party. Arbitration fees will be borne by the non-prevailing party unless otherwise determined by the arbitrator. Any award issued by the arbitrator will be binding, and the prevailing party will be entitled to full reimbursement of actual fees incurred in relation to the dispute. By registering to participate in a Central Coast Coin Exxchange auction, the Bidder expressly agrees to the dispute resolution procedures outlined above as the exclusive means to resolve any and all disputes arising with Central Coast Coin Exxchange. The Bidder acknowledges and agrees not to file any disputes with credit card companies, PayPal, or any other third parties. Should the Bidder violate this provision, they acknowledge that their participation in the auction is contingent upon the acceptance of these terms. The Bidder confesses judgment to having committed fraud against Central Coast Coin Exxchange and agrees to be liable for all damages, losses, and costs incurred by Central Coast Coin Exxchange, including time-related charges, as a result of this violation. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY Central Coast Coin Exxchange shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in our auctions or the use of our services. Our total liability is limited to the purchase price of the item in question. The bidder acknowledges and accepts that Central Coast Coin Exxchange does not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted service, or secure access to our website. Various factors and circumstances beyond our control may interrupt, interfere with, or adversely affect the operation of our website. Neither Central Coast Coin Exxchange nor any of its sellers, agents, or third-party vendors shall be liable for any loss or damage incurred due to failures or interruptions in website access, internet bidding, or any other causes related to the accessibility of the site and its materials, or to placing bids, regardless of the perceived cause. In the event of service interruptions during internet auctions, Central Coast Coin Exxchange reserves the right to terminate the affected auctions and declare all bids null and void, allow auctions to continue despite interruptions, relist and restart affected auctions at the original starting bid or the highest bid at the time of interruption, or take any other necessary actions. The auctioneer's decision shall be final and without recourse or liability. The Bidder acknowledges and understands that this service may not function correctly on the day of the auction. Under no circumstances shall the Bidder have any claim against Central Coast Coin Exxchange or any other party if the Internet service fails before or during the live auction. Central Coast Coin Exxchange will not be responsible for any missed bids from any source. To ensure that their bid is acknowledged, Internet bidders are encouraged to submit their maximum bid at least 24 hours before the auction closes to make sure they don’t miss out. Central Coast Coin Exxchange reserves the right to withdraw or re-catalog items in this auction. Should a tie or dispute arise between two bidders, the auctioneer may, at their discretion, reopen the bidding until the property is sold. The record of the auction made by Central Coast Coin Exxchange shall be conclusive. Central Coast Coin Exxchange may refuse a buyer’s number to anyone for any reason. The Bidder agrees to provide any identification that Central Coast Coin Exxchange may request, including but not limited to: driver’s license, photocopies of credit cards, Social Security card, or U.S. Passport. The Bidder also agrees to comply with any stated additional terms or conditions associated with particular items. USER RESPONSIBILITIES Bidders are responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of their account information. By participating in our auctions, bidders acknowledge that they are fully responsible for all bids placed through their accounts. It is essential to monitor account activity regularly and to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use or suspected breach of account security. CATALOG INNACURACY Please note that you are bidding on the described item, not the photograph. Occasionally, the wrong photo may be displayed, so always read the item description carefully. If you have any questions, please contact us prior to the close of the auction. Central Coast Coin Exxchange reserves the right to add or remove items from the auction and split or combine lots. Additionally, the auctioneer retains the authority to cancel, suspend, extend, or reschedule an individual item and/or auction event, as well as to make changes to auction closing times or inspection and removal times. If any adjustments are made after bidding has started, all active bidders will be notified. We want to assure you that we are not attempting to deceive anyone; adjustments will only be made when we identify a potential issue. Central Coast Coin Exxchange will not edit photos or descriptions once they are posted unless an error is identified. In such cases, we will document the error in the description and notify all active bidders for the lot. ----------------- These terms and conditions, along with each listing, contain all provisions applicable to the agreement between Central Coast Coin Exxchange as the seller and each Bidder. They supersede all other agreements, representations, or understandings, whether prior or contemporaneous, oral or written, regarding the subject matter. Furthermore, these terms and conditions and the provisions of each listing shall be binding upon the Buyer’s heirs, beneficiaries, executors, successors, and assigns. If any provision of these terms and conditions or any listing is found to be void, unlawful, or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to comply with applicable law, or if modification is not feasible, it shall be deleted and severed from the remaining provisions. Any such modification, deletion, or severance shall not affect the enforceability or validity of the remaining provisions. For any inquiries regarding these terms or our auction items, please contact Central Coast Coin Exchange at 805-540-0866 or cccoinexxchange@gmail.com.
