CCP Auctions had the distinct pleasure to inspect and photograph this jaw-dropping masterpiece. This was one of those rare visits when you look in every nook and cranny around the car, and everywhere you look, the car looks brand new.
This build was not meant to be a “restored-completely-back-to-stock” project, but more of a subtle Resto-Mod, using many original GM components such as a stock restored-to-new interior, stock body, spring ring battery cables, T-3 headlamps and GM rad hoses. The modifications are primarily mechanical and there are many.
This Camaro started out life as an X55 car, a Fathom Green SS with 350 and 4-speed manual transmission. When the decision was made to start this extensive project, they began by taking the completely apart . . . every nut, bolt and washer.
The body was put on a rotisserie, the factory undercoating in the wheel-wells was stripped by hand, and every square inch of the body was prepped to perfection. A crate motor was ordered from GM, specifically a 396 small block 491hp stroker long block with aluminum intake. This was bolted to a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission.
A humungous amount of new components were purchased for this car, too many to list here but some examples are a new steering box, new power steering pump, new carb, HEI distributor, etc. etc. The suspension was also completely reworked, the car was lowered, and QA1 tubular control arms were installed. Braking is handled by 4-wheel power disc brakes and new headers, exhaust pipes, brake and fuel lines were installed. The car rides on Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires mounted on 18 inch aftermarket Rally-Style wheels.
The paint, with “painted” body stripes and all chrome components are show-quality throughout and the interior is absolutely like new with obvious huge amounts of attention to detail as every knob, every instrument & instrument lens, every woodgrain dash panel, every interior component . . . looks brand new.
The interior features bucket seats with console, Hurst shifter, console-mounted gauges, woodgrain steering wheel and deluxe interior door panels.
The restoration was completed in 2022 and a series of receipts go with the car as well as a hard-cover coffee table book which photographically documents the restoration from start to finish.
The quality of this car is endless . . . no short-cuts, no excuses.
