Lead 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham
Description
UPDATE: CAR IS RUNNING!! Note: The following information is from the dealer website when it was sold to Mr. Kimes in 2021. Click on the link provided in the lot to the dealer website, which has more information and pictures. The information is from 3 years ago, and while reliable is not guaranteed. It is up to each potential bidder to verify the information. Looking for something very few people own in the world 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham , Build # 127 out of 400. One of 400 made in 1957 In its day, Cadillac's Eldorado Brougham was as good as luxury motoring got. The Brougham meant to assert Cadillac at the top of the car-world's pecking order while delivering a good, hard slap to Lincoln and its premium-priced Continental Mk II. In an era when even Rolls-Royces cost $10,000, the Eldorado Brougham started at $13,074 . There were choices-paint color and interior fabric, for example-but no options. This NUMBERS MATCHING Cadillac was the epitome of American luxury. Just 400 examples were built in 1957. Typically reserved for only movie stars and the wealthy elite, this Cadillac was originally priced at $13,074. Compare that to a regular Cadillac sedan in '57 priced at $4,781 and you can see why this limited production car was far more expensive than any other American auto. This car had more upscale features than any other competitor. This car was GM's answer to the Mark II by Ford Motor Division. No car was priced higher than the Mark II, that is, until the beautiful Eldorado Brougham came along. This Brougham stands out from the pack with its brushed stainless steel roof, center opening/suicide doors, beautiful taillights in the unique rear fins, no center roof pillars, and a lower stance. This car is loaded with luxury options including air conditioning, power windows, power driver's seat with memory, electric door locks, heated seats, a trunk lid that is electrically raised and lowered, auto dimming headlights, polarized sun visors, and a glove box with fold out shelf with mirror and tissue dispenser, to name a few. Interestingly, this was the world's first production car to use air suspension, giving this classic a smooth ride. The 1957 is powered by its original hefty 365 cid V8 with 2 - 4bbl carburetors, putting out 325hp. This motor is mated to a four speed Hydra-matic automatic transmission. For such a large vehicle, this was considered fast in its day. GM Design boss Harley Earl combined features from a couple of Motorama show cars: The 1953 Orleans, which presaged the panoramic windshield and the pillarless four-door hardtop/suicide rear-door configuration; and the El Camino coupe concept of 1954, which gave us the brushed stainless-steel roof. Making the "Florentine" roof a styling feature made some sense: at 55.5 inches high, the Eldorado Brougham was a full 31/2 inches lower than a contemporary Series 62. The Brougham's body was also 21/2 inches narrower. Doors latched onto a stubby central pillar barely a foot high, helping to maximize what rear legroom was available. Has a small dent on the driver's side front fender. VIN: 57700976978 Year: 1957 Make: Cadillac Model: Eldorado Broughman Body: 4 door suicide Engine: 365 V8 Color: Blue Miles: Odometer Reads 59810
