RARE COLOR PRINT/DRAWING of FRANZ SCHUBERT BY L. KUPELWEISER
Signed by Louis G. Kaufman
Very good condition, shows some aging, some wear on cardboard frame. Requires a little cleaning.
This drawing of Franz Schubert is a derivative of the work of Moritz Von Schwind, done by L. Kupelweiser.
This rare print is from a drawing. Double signed by the artist below the picture. Signed on the back of the cardboard frame "With best wishes forever, your friend, Louis G. Kaufman".
Mr. Kaufman was one of the founders of the Empire State Building. I believe this is the Mr. Louis G. Kaufman who signed the frame. I am unable to date this item.
This is a rare piece of history! I believe it could have been done for Mr. Kaufman to give someone as a gift, but that is only my guess.
Very good condition, part of a huge estate in Charlotte, NC in the 1970's.
The frame measures 9 3/4" x 13". The print is 4" x 6".
This work of art is for your pleasure and has no guarantees of any kind. Appraisal estimated between $2000-3500, that is an old appraisal and I don't have it in writing anymore.
I will be including quite a bit of documentation I compiled on the internet regarding this print with the Art when you receive it.
This item will be fully insured.
(Franz Schubert was a renowned Concert Pianist).
(Mr. Schwind was an Austrian painter, born in Vienna).
(Mr. Kupelweiser was a great friend of Franz Schubert).
I have done quite a bit of research on this drawing and it will be included with the print. I received a letter from Mrs. Louis Kaufman whose husband was a famous Pianist, but she assured me this Mr. Kaufman was not her husband. I then researched and found Mr. Louis G. Kaufman who was the founder of the Empire State Building. I believe he is the person who signed this piece, although I don't have a signature to compare it with.
I have never seen another copy of this print.
