SALESMAN'S SAMPLE SCROLL MUSEUM PIECE RARE ESTATE
This scroll has been in my family for over 30 years.
There is a separate suitcase with 3 additional picutres in it which was in the same auction. I believe it is part of the salesman's kit.
The first picture in the scroll is a likeness to Samuel Clemens, but is not him. I took this scroll to the Smithsonian Museum in 1991 and the Cruator thought it was Mark Twain; however, after contact with the Mark Twain Society in Missouri, I discovered the earlobes are not right in the picture, but it could be a relative, since it is so close in similiarity.
Photographs are approx. 17 1/2" long x 16" wide.
The other pictures in the scroll are pictured, Death certificate, Birth certificate, Marriage Certificate. and a page of frames by the Company who sold these frames, James C. Bailey & Co., Chicago. The leather is getting brittle from handling and the paper is in danger of tearing.
There is some tearing around the edges on leather and paper. Some creases will be evident. The pictures are in good condition, photo-wise. I cannot be responsible for any damages from handling.
This item will not be shipped. It is too fragile and must be handled with care, as it cannot be replaced.
You may purchase a shipper if you want to, but insurance may be a problem as it is very valuable.
SOLD AS IS - VIEW PICTURES AND DESCRIPTION FOR CONDITION.
