• What truly sets this Francie apart, however, is that she comes dressed in a production sample of the #3461 Peach Plush outfit—an extremely rare and historically significant item. Production samples like this were created for approval before the outfit went into mass production, making this a one-of-a-kind piece.
• This particular production sample is a fascinating piece of Francie history. Instead of the hot pink midi coat and skirt from the final Peach Plush version, this sample used white felt for both, and the coat is trimmed with blue and white polka dot ribbon, while the skirt is adorned with white lace. The beret was crafted from fabric originally used for Skipper’s Super Slacks outfit, further emphasizing how Mattel often repurposed materials for mock-ups. The satin shell, however, is identical to the final hot pink version, preserving the intended design. In place of the hot pink lace-up boots from the final production, this sample includes white lace-up boots. To complete the ensemble, a white pak handle purse is included, adding to the uniqueness of this set.
