Umbrella Boy - Hum 152/II A
In the countryside of Bavaria in the early part of this century, a charming bunch of children were born who’ve been delighting the world for decades. They are the children of M.I. Hummel, sketched by Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel and beloved for their gentle representation of childhood. Now, some of the most adored M.I. Hummel motifs have been transformed into exquisite porcelain dolls.
This porcelain doll is an authentic “M.I. Hummel” collectible translated from two-dimensional art of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel by Goebel. It is handcrafted and hand painted according to the traditions of artistic excellence established by Goebel more than a century ago. This adorable boy who is hiding from the rain under his umbrella sits approximately 9” tall, including the umbrella

Oh dear - our little bumblebee boy was caught in the rain. But thank God he has his umbrella with him and can take a break, well protected from the raindrops. He holds the umbrella tightly in his hand. He is probably watching the raindrops hit the ground and form puddles. And who knows? Maybe a big, colorful rainbow will be waiting for our little friend after the shower?
The large size was redesigned in 1972 with a thinner umbrella and a new finish. In older models, the handle of the umbrella is connected to the left shoe. The small size was first produced in 1954. The companion figurine is "Umbrella Girl" (HUM 152/B/II) was designed a few years later.

* All winnings MUST be paid for no later than Friday following the conclusion of the auction. Any items not paid by Friday will be charged to the credit card on file. If funds are not available your account will be revoked and you will not be available to participate in future auctions until the account is made current.
* All items paid for, but not picked upo will be given an additional 7 day grace period. If not picked up, shipped, or claimed the item(s) will be forfeited and sold, or donated and considered payment for storage fees.
