This is a new in the box, with all paperwork, Winchester model 94 John Wayne Commemorative model lever action carbine in 32-40 caliber. This gun was acquired new by John J Ascuaga, owner and operator of the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks Nevada. John Wayne's last movie, The Shootist, was filmed in 1976 in and around Carson City, Nevada, home to John Ascuaga's 1250 Acre cattle and sheep "Jacks Valley Ranch". Several scene's from the movie including the very opening scene were filmed on the ranch, Ascuaga and Wayne became friend's during the filming. After Wayne's death in June on 1979, and when the Winchester commemorative was produced in 1982, Ascuaga acquired one in remembrance of his all too short-lived friendship with Wayne. This gun has never been fired and only opened partially to confirm an empty chamber. Google John Ascuaga and you will find a rich history of the man and his family as one of the pioneer's of legal gaming in Northern Nevada. Buying the small Nugget restuarant and Casino in 1960, he built it into a mega resort destination comparable to any "Strip" resort in Las Vegas. This is a One of a Kind piece of History that will come with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Daughter and Ascuaga Family Trust, Trustee Michonne Ascuaga and the FFL dealer handling the firearms of the Asquaga Estate.
